Udo P. Leis' work has its origins in the Gesamtkunstwerk, a word used by Joseph Beuys to state that all our activities built up to one great work of art. Since this is the time of post-everything, there has been a shift in perception to "living is creating." Udo's works are as various as one's life can be. Look around on his website www.st37.de and find out for yourself. Immunity to definitions is the result of constant movement. Since 1978 Udo has documented his life and travels on video. The videocamera had a microphone. Without realising he had made thousands of field recordings. Udo P. Leis is preparing the Klangarchive in Kassel, scheduled to be ready in 2010. Udo will play on the Day of the Imaginary Homecoming, February 7, in Wendel and on the Day of the Archived Sounds, February 10, in Gallery Takt. |
